Received from anonymously by activists in the US:

"A statement has been received anonymously regarding a new action taken against the foie gras industry in California. On the night of August 12, 2003, individuals horrified at the torture of ducks to make foie gras visited the site of Sonoma Saveurs, a new restaurant preparing to open in Sonoma, CA. It is owned by Sonoma Foie Gras and intends to serve bloated livers from ducks they force feed.

First, the visitors poured concrete into four drain holes where sinks and toilets are being installed, symbolizing the forcing of high density feed down the throats of ducks. The damage this will do to the plumbing symbolizes the damage done to the ducks' digestive systems by force feeding them.

Then the advocates plugged the holes and turned on several water valves to flood the restaurant. Guillermo Gonzolez, the owner of Sonoma Foie Gras, deprives the ducks he tortures to make foie gras of water in which to preen and bathe. Now Guillermo will be sure to have a swim when he opens the door, symbolizing his blatent neglect for the birds' desperate need of water.Every wall, light fixture, and object in the restaurant were also painted red with messages decrying the cruelty inherent in foie gras production. Also during the visit, the addresses and phone numbers of several people involved in the restaurant project were discovered."
