According to German media, approximately 7,500 mink escaped from a fur farm near the village of Grabow (Jerichower Land district) in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Police believe animal rights activists raided the farm in the early hours of Friday morning, cutting through wire fences and releasing the animals from their cages.

German soldiers were deployed in an attempt to recapture the mink. As of Monday, approximately 4,000 mink were still on the loose in the German countryside. (photos from media reports)
