note: André Viard is a former matador, author of several pro-bullfighting books, and president of the Observatoire National des Cultures Taurines (National Observatory of Bullfighting Cultures).

At approx. 3:00am on July 26, a fire was started at the entrance to Viard's home in the town of Vieux-Boucau (south west France).
